Appointments

diary_appointmentAll consultations are by appointment.

  • Routine appointments: Can be made with the doctor of your choice, by telephone or in person.  Surgery appointments are from 09:00 – 11:00, Monday to Friday, 14:00 – 16:00 or 15:00- 17:00 Monday to Friday.  For routine consultations we will endeavour to offer patients an appointment within 3 working days of the request although we may not be able to offer you the doctor of your choice.
  • Urgent appointments: Can be made any morning where necessary if available. If the reception team are unable to offer you an appointment they will put you down on the call list and the Doctor will phone you back and assess if you need to be seen on the day.
  • Emergencies: Will be dealt with as they arise.

Please note, an appointment is for one person only – where another member of the family needs to be seen, another appointment should be made and the medical record made available.

Practice Policy for the removal of patients who Do Not Attend (DNA).

The practice adheres to the guidelines published by the GMC regarding removal of patients from the practice list.

Patients are advised upon joining the practice that we consider Do Not Attends to be wasteful of our appointments in that it prevents other patients from assessing medical attention in a timely way.

Repeatedly booking and missing appointments without cancelling is inconsiderate to other patients and disruptive to the practice, directly affecting the quality of service we can provide to other patients.

The practice considers multiple DNAs to be a justifiable reason to remove patients from the Practice List in line with GMC guidelines as it determines that frequent DNAs results in a breakdown of trust necessary to maintain the Patient/Doctor Relationship.

Telephone Advice

Doctors are available for telephone advice from 08:30-09:30, 11:30 -12:00 and 14:30 - 15:00.

Referrals

Urgent referrals to other health and social care agencies will be made within 1 working day of the patient consultation.  We will normally process non-urgent referrals within 5 working days of the patient consultation or the doctor’s decision to refer.

Medical Students

Occasionally medical students are attached to the practice for training.  Patients will be asked if they consent to the student being present during their consultation.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
